First Ever Murder Mystery at Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University

For the first time, Liberty Hall at Kean University will host a Murder Mystery at the Museum in the 244-year-old historic mansion of New Jersey’s first elected Governor, William Livingston. Guests will be transported to 1932 when they arrive at the beautifully decorated Liberty Hall for a dinner party. However, murder is on the menu, and it is up to the dinner guests to solve this whodunit.

CSUF, Univision LA Partner to Launch On-Campus News Bureau

Cal State Fullerton’s College of Communications and Univision Los Angeles have partnered to create an on-campus news bureau to serve the Orange County and Inland Empire Hispanic community. The new alliance connects Univision with its young and bilingual audience and provides CSUF students with mentors, internship opportunities and access to high-impact educational experiences with seasoned bilingual journalists in both broadcast and digital news production.

'Walking Dead' Star Accepted into Auburn University

One of the stars of AMC's "The Walking Dead" might soon be an Auburn Tiger. Al.com (http://bit.ly/2fc2Pxa ) reports Chandler Riggs announced on his Twitter account on Sunday night that he had been accepted to Auburn University. The 17-year-old actor has played Carl Grimes, son of "The Walking Dead" protagonist Rick Grimes, since 2010.

Cuban and American Artists Unite at Centro Cultural Español in Miami, Florida on December 1

Following successful exhibitions in Havana, Cuba, and Los Angeles, California, El Acercamiento/The Approach brings its transnational collaboration to Miami, Florida. Uniting American and Cuban artists to investigate the past, present and possible futures of Cuba-U.S. relations, an evening of performances will take place at Miami's Centro Cultural Español. Coinciding with For El Acercamiento/The Approach, events in Havana, Los Angeles and Miami challenge Cuban and American artists to envision possible futures between the two countries.

Acclaimed Author, Children's Book Illustrator Visits U of SC

An acclaimed illustrator of children's books is donating her collection of artwork, manuscripts and papers to the University of South Carolina Libraries. Selections from the collection by illustrator Anita Lobel are now on display at the Thomas Cooper Library on the university's Columbia campus. Elizabeth Suddeth, the director of the Library's department of rare books, is scheduled to discuss Lobel's works on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Thomas Cooper Library.

New Monument of Sparty Comes to Michigan State University

Michigan State University is getting a new bronze monument to the school's Sparty mascot. The statue at the MSU Union in East Lansing is perched on a bench with his muscular arms extended out. People will be able to sit next to Sparty and pose for photos. An unveiling of the about $150,000 project will take place Wednesday ahead of the weekend's homecoming events. Oregon-based sculptor Alison Brown created a clay rendering used to cast the statue, which weighs more than 1,500 pounds. She noted that Michigan State students helped select her as the sculptor and helped decide on a pose for Sparty.

Riverside City College Adjunct Faculty Wins Pierre Cardin Award

Murillo, 31, is being honored for his scenic design work with the Playwrights’ Arena, which is based in Los Angeles and was founded by Jon Lawrence Rivera in order to produce and direct original works by Los Angeles playwrights. Murillo’s work has also been featured at International City Theatre, New Village Arts Theatre, The Chance Theater, Deaf West Theatre, Wallis Anneberg Center for the Performing Arts, the Hollywood Bowl, and Performance Riverside.

A dean (and his faculty) turn radio listeners' questions into a book demystifying classical music

USC Thornton School of Music Dean Robert A. Cutietta has been answering puzzling and persnickety questions on Classical KUSC’s “Ask the Dean” weekly radio feature on its Arts Alive show since 2006. Now, he’s compiled and tweaked some 140 of them for a new format. His book, Who Knew? Answers to Questions About Classical Music You Never Thought to Ask, was published this week by Oxford University Press.

Tackling bullying in Colorado schools with bilingual Shakespeare and all-female cast

The Colorado Shakespeare Festival is taking its all-female, bilingual tour of The Taming of the Shrew to Colorado schools. The Taming of the Shrew is the latest title in CSF’s Shakespeare & Violence Prevention series, which combines live performance and classroom workshops - using the latest bullying and violence prevention research - to empower students to become “upstanders” vs. “bystanders” when they see bullying happen around them. The tour, aimed at third- through 12th-graders, continues through Nov. 4. It will be staged at more than 30 schools and reach about 6,000 students.

Detroit Museum Loans Prints for Oakland University Exhibit

The Detroit Institute of Arts is loaning 20 prints created by Works Projects Administration artists for an exhibition at the Oakland University Art Gallery. The free exhibition features dozens of prints from the 1920s to the 1940s. The WPA put millions of unemployed people to work in public works jobs and a unit commissioned artists to make prints.
