Julie Langham
Augusta Technical College has appointed Mrs. Julie Langham new dean for Academic Affairs. Julie Langham holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Augusta University and a Master’s degree in Higher Education and Administration from Troy University. She has worked in higher education for 22 years and has been with the College since 2002. Langham currently serves as the college’s Dean of Satellite Campuses where she has managed faculty, staff, and assisted in program management.
James D. Gallo
The Board of Trustees of The City University of New York has approved the appointment of James D. Gallo as CUNY’s vice chancellor for university advancement. Gallo currently serves as the assistant vice chancellor for professional schools development at The University of California, Los Angeles. He brings 16 years of experience in development roles at UCLA, Cornell, the University of Chicago and Dartmouth.
Sudha Setty
The Board of Trustees of The City University of New York has voted to appoint Sudha Setty, as the dean of the CUNY School of Law. She is the first person of South Asian descent to lead a CUNY school. Setty has been the dean of the Western New England University School of Law since 2018. She previously served as the school’s associate dean for faculty development and intellectual life.
Wendy F. Hensel
The Board of Trustees of The City University of New York has approved the appointment of Wendy F. Hensel as CUNY’s executive vice chancellor and university provost. Hensel brings a decade of academic leadership experience at Georgia State University in Atlanta, including roles as provost and senior vice president of academic affairs and as dean of their College of Law.
Michèle Alexandre
Loyola University Chicago has named Michèle Alexandre, JD dean of the School of Law, effective July 15, 2022. A recipient of Fulbright and Watson fellowships, Alexandre has devoted her career to civil rights law, sustainability, economic independence, gender equity, and social justice. She received her BA, summa cum laude, from Colgate University and her JD from Harvard Law School. Prior to joining Loyola, she served as dean and professor of law at Stetson University College of Law.
Nancy LaGreca
St. Mary’s University has named Nancy LaGreca, Ph.D., as the next dean of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
LaGreca teaches Hispanic literature and culture to undergraduate and graduate students following best practices in inclusive pedagogy and is the author of two monographs on Latin American writers of modernity. Prior to accepting the position at St. Mary's University LaGreca served in several administrative roles at the University of Oklahoma, most recently as the faculty fellow for the Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost.
Edward A. Serna ’02
Edward A. Serna ’02 has been selected to serve as the 12th president of his alma mater, Winthrop University in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Serna is currently serving as the 15th president of the University of Maine at Farmington. He arrived at UMF in 2019 after serving as interim chancellor at the University of Arkansas–Fort Smith. Prior to this position, he served as chief of staff and associate vice chancellor for external funding and chief of staff and vice chancellor for strategic initiatives.
Marco A. Valenzuela
Harvey Mudd College has appointed Marco Antonio Valenzuela to be the permanent vice president of student affairs and dean of students as of Feb. 1, 2022. He served as interim vice president during the 2021 fall semester. Valenzuela joined the College’s Division of Student Affairs in September 2018 as assistant dean for housing and residential life. In 2019, he was promoted to associate dean of students and director of residential life. In 2021 he took on the role of interim vice president of student affairs and dean of students.
