Andrea Goldsmith
The State University of New York has appointed Dr. Andrea Goldsmith as Stony Brook University’s new president. Dr. Goldsmith, who currently serves as dean of engineering and applied science at Princeton University, will assume her role on August 1. She becomes the seventh president of Stony Brook, following an esteemed career as a dean, researcher in engineering, technology company founder, and faculty member at Princeton and previously at Stanford University and Caltech. An expert in wireless communications and signal processing, Dr. Goldsmith holds 38 patents and has been inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame. She is also a recipient of the Marconi Prize.
Marie Hardin
Dr. Marie Hardin has been appointed Quinnipiac University’s 10th president, effective July 1, 2025. Dr. Hardin is a distinguished academic leader, dean and professor, who has served as the dean of the Donald P. Bellisario College of Communications at The Pennsylvania State University since 2014. An award-winning scholar in sports media, gender studies, and communication, she has co-edited two books and a leading academic journal. A first-generation college graduate, Dr. Hardin has been recognized as a distinguished alumni scholar and has led major national journalism and education associations. She brings a strong commitment to student success, interdisciplinary research, and innovation.
Jeanette M. Nuñez
Jeanette M. Nuñez has been appointed interim president of Florida International University on February 7, 2025. Prior to her appointment as interim president, Mrs. Nuñez served as Florida’s lieutenant governor. Before her tenure as lieutenant governor, Mrs. Nuñez served as a state representative of the Florida House of Representatives from 2010 to 2018. In addition to her extensive public service experience, Mrs. Nuñez has been an adjunct professor and guest lecturer at Florida International University.She earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Political Science and her Master of Public Administration from Florida International University.
