At H.O. we congratulate new education leaders that have embarked on the challenging but very rewarding journey of education leadership.

 

Claudia V. Schrader 

Claudia V. Schrader has been appointed as interim president of York College. She started her new role on January 8, 2024. Previously, Dr. Schrader served as president of Kingsborough Community College since September 2018. Prior to becoming president at Kingsborough, President Schrader served as provost and senior vice president for academic and student success at Bronx Community College as associate provost at William Paterson University in New Jersey and as associate provost at Medgar Evers College, where she was a tenured professor of education and her department’s deputy chair. President Schrader has a B.A. from Rutgers University and an M.A., M.Ed. and Ed.D., all from Teachers College, Columbia University. 

Deidre Price

Dr. Deidre Price has been appointed Montgomery College’s next senior vice president for academic affairs/college provost. Price began her education career as an adjunct faculty member teaching English at Okaloosa-Walton Community College (later renamed Northwest Florida State College), the University of South Alabama, and Tallahassee Community College. She served as a full-time faculty member for 11 years, then as director of instructional technology and online education, dean of academic strategies, innovation, and support, and finally vice president for academic affairs. Price holds dual bachelor’s degrees in English and philosophy and a master’s degree in English from the University of South Alabama. She earned her Ph.D. in English from Florida State University.

Diane Ryan

Harford Community College has appointed Diane Ryan as vice president for Academic Affairs. Prior to joining Harford, she served as the vice president of Academic Affairs and vice president of Strategic Initiatives at Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona. Previous administrative positions include dean of Humanities and Social Sciences and then Pathway dean of Engineering, Science, and Math at Tidewater Community College in Norfolk, Virginia. Dr. Ryan taught English, Communication Studies, and Public Speaking at Tidewater Community College, Fisher Junior College (Rockland, MA), and Spoon River Community College (Canton, IL). Dr. Ryan earned a B.A. in Mass Communications, an M.A. in Communication Studies from Western Illinois University, and a Ph.D. in Community College Leadership from Old Dominion University.
