Although 2025 is a less politically active year than 2024 was, there will still be important national elections held in six Latin American countries this year: Ecuador, Bolivia, Honduras, Belize and Chile will choose their new Presidents, Vice Presidents and members of their legislative assemblies; Argentina will hold mid-term elections for seats in the Chamber of Deputies and Senate, as well as provincial elections. In addition, the U.S. presidential inauguration will take place in January, heralding key changes for the United States and the entire region.
International events to be hosted in the region this year include the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 30), which will take place in Brazil in November, and the FIFA Club World Cup, to be held in the United States in June.
