NEW ALBANY, Ind. (AP) — Indiana University trustees have approved building a new residence hall at Indiana University Southeast, where there is a wait list to get a room.

The News and Tribune reports (http://bit.ly/2gp4Eai ) that 130 students have been on wait lists to get rooms for the last three years. Occupancy in the dorms at the campus has been more than 95 percent every year since residence halls opened in 2008. The governor's office, Indiana Commission of Higher Education, the State Budget Committee and the Indiana Finance Authority still have to approve the plan to build more housing.

If all permissions come through construction is set to be finished in July 2018.

IU-Southeast chancellor Ray Wallace says having dorms have helped the campus increase retention rates and boosted involvement in campus clubs and organizations.
