Suresh Garimella
Dr. Suresh Garimella has been appointed the 23rd president of the University of Arizona. He previously served as the 27th president of the University of Vermont (UVM) since 2019, where he led initiatives to enhance access, affordability, and student success. Before UVM, he was the Goodson Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering and Executive Vice President for Research at Purdue University. Dr. Garimella is a member of the National Science Board, serves on the research advisory board of Sandia National Laboratories, and is on the board of directors at Modine. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master’s from Ohio State University, and a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras.
Patricia Prelock
The University of Vermont has announced the appointment of Patricia Prelock as its interim president while the search for the university’s next president proceeds. As UVM’s Provost and Senior Vice President since 2019, Dr. Prelock has held numerous key roles on campus for over 30 years, including Dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences, Professor of Communication Sciences and Disorders, and Professor of Pediatrics. Dr. Prelock’s research focuses on the nature and treatment of autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Dr. Prelock earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kent State University and her doctoral degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
David Troilo
The State University of New York has appointed Dr. David Troilo as the 4th president of SUNY College of Optometry. Dr. David Troilo joined SUNY College of Optometry in July 2008 as professor, vice president, and dean for Academic Affairs. As the chief academic officer at SUNY Optometry, Dr. Troilo has been responsible for the professional degree program in optometry, and the graduate degree programs (PhD and MS) in vision science. Dr. Troilo graduated from SUNY Oswego and received his Ph.D. in biological sciences from the City University of New York. He held post-doctoral research positions at the University Laboratories of Physiology at the University of Oxford, and the Department of Neurobiology and Behavior and the Department of Psychology at Cornell University.
