Glenn Hegar
Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar has been confirmed as the next chancellor of the Texas A&M University System—one of the nation’s largest, comprising 11 universities, eight state agencies, and an operating budget exceeding $7.3 billion. A 1993 graduate of Texas A&M University, Hegar earned a law degree from St. Mary’s University and a master’s in law from the University of Arkansas. Before serving as the state’s chief financial officer, he represented Texas in both the House and Senate, was elected comptroller in 2014, and won re-election in 2018 and 2022.
Elizabeth Cantwell
Dr. Elizabeth “Betsy” Cantwell became the 12th president of Washington State University on April 1, 2025. She previously led Utah State University’s 30-campus system and, prior to that, oversaw an $825 million research portfolio at the University of Arizona. A visionary leader in science and innovation with a background in national security, she brings decades of industry and higher education experience to WSU. Cantwell holds a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from UC Berkeley, an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor’s in human behavior from the University of Chicago. Her appointment marks a bold new chapter, reinforcing WSU’s commitment to advancing research, education, and global impact.
Ally Williams
Dr. Aly Williams has been named the 17th president of Midland University, assuming office on April 10, 2025. Previously, she excelled as Vice President of Academic Affairs, College of Arts and Sciences, and Chief Academic Officer at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. Prior to her 2020 appointment as Vice President for Academic Affairs, Williams devoted 20 years to Indiana Wesleyan as a Professor of Exercise Science and Athletic Training, including a decade as an athletic trainer for the university’s athletics program. She holds a Psychology degree from Indiana Wesleyan, an MS in Physical Education from Eastern Illinois University, and a PhD in Public Health from Walden University.
