Broward College (BC) is a large urban institution located in
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with three main campus locations and five centers, serving
approximately 60,000 credit/non-credit students annually. The College was founded
in 1959 as the first public higher education institution in Broward County. As
the principal provider of undergraduate higher education for Broward County residents,
the College is committed to responding to the cultural diversity of the county
by providing extensive international and intercultural educational experiences
to help students develop multicultural and global perspectives. International
affiliations and study abroad opportunities are complemented by a general education
“international/ intercultural” curricular requirement for graduation.
With a wide variety of degree/certificate programs and continuing education courses,
the College attracts a diversity of students, hosting 8000 students born in other
countries around the world each semester. The College serves individuals seeking
degrees, contemporary job skills, as well as education for personal enrichment.
Broward College is also a hub for community development, business, and industry,
and an avenue for continued skill upgrading and retraining.
